Chosen Cuba vice-president of Congress of Latin Union


Paris, 30 of nov (PL) Cuba was elect vice-president of XXII the Congress of the Latin Union, event that sesionó in the seat UNESCO with attendance of delegates of 37 countries, announced the Antillean diplomatic mission today.
The Latin Union is an international organization of intergovernmental character founded on 1954 to promote and to spread the cultural inheritance of the Latin world, and already reunites near 40 states members of four continents.
The ex- Secretary General of the UN, the Peruvian Javier Perez de Cuellar, president of the Congress was reelecto, indicates the press note.
The Cuban ambassador before UNESCO and representative in the Latin Union, Héctor Brown Hernandez, was chosen to occupy one of the two vice-presidencies, next to the ambassador of Andorra.
The conclave debated the works, activities and financial aspects of the Organization, and mainly about the projection and programs to develop in next the two years.
In addition, he approved a declaration in which the delegates emphasized the reaffirmation and the defense of the cultural diversity, and the recognition of the political dimension of the latinidad in the international context.
The Congress also chose to the members of the new Executive Council of the Organization, who was formed by the representatives of Brazil, Green Cabo, Cuba, Ecuador, Portugal, Rumania, El Salvador, Spain, France, Italy, Uruguay and Moldavia.
